PriceLens

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026  ·  Version 1.0.0

Short version: PriceLens does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Everything runs locally in your browser. No accounts. No tracking. No servers.

What PriceLens does

PriceLens is a browser extension that detects prices on web pages and converts them to your preferred currency using live exchange rates. All processing happens locally in your browser.

Data we do NOT collect

Local storage only

PriceLens stores the following data locally on your device only, using Chrome's built-in storage API:

This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server.

Exchange rate API

To fetch live exchange rates, PriceLens makes requests to open.er-api.com, a public, free exchange rate API. These requests contain no personal information — only the currency code you are querying (e.g. EUR). For Russian Ruble (RUB) rates, the extension queries the public Central Bank of Russia API (cbr.ru). No personal data is included in these requests.

Permissions explained

Third-party services

PriceLens uses only public, no-registration APIs for exchange rates:

Please refer to their respective privacy policies for information on how they handle requests.

Children's privacy

PriceLens does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The extension has no user accounts and collects no personal information.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the version number and date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance.

Questions?

If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how PriceLens handles data, you can reach us through the Chrome Web Store support tab on the PriceLens extension page.
